ARLINGTON, Texas – With seven football games in three days, there’s sure to be plenty of action inside AT&T Stadium this weekend at the Lone Star Football Festival. But an equal amount of excitement is building about what’s happening outside the stadium as the Lone Star Conference is partnering with Univision Radio Dallas to host Fiesta en el Estadio, a three-day Hispanic Heritage celebration.
Fiesta en el Estadio is a free event, open to the public, and geared toward a family friendly festival atmosphere. It takes place in AT&T Stadium’s West Plaza and runs 5-9 PM on Friday, leading up to the first-ever Mexican collegiate football game to be played at AT&T Stadium. ITESM Campus de Puebla will challenge ITESM Campus de Mexico City in a CONADIEP contest that kicks off at 9 PM.
The Fiesta continues Saturday, beginning at 9 AM and running through 7 PM. One highlight of Saturday’s football lineup is a Noon kickoff between the best team in all of Mexico, 13-time national champion Tec de Monterrey, and LSC powerhouse Texas A&M-Kingsville. It will be the first-ever international football contest played at AT&T Stadium.
“It’s a great pleasure to welcome three teams from Mexico to this year’s Football Festival,” LSC Commissioner Stan Wagnon said. “This weekend is a great opportunity for the Hispanic community in North Texas to come out and support the teams from Mexico as they compete on football’s grandest stage.”
“We are excited about exceptional pageantry that will be on display with Tec de Monterrey as an event participant. I had the opportunity to attend their first game of the season a few weeks ago, and it was quite a spirited affair with nearly 40,000 passionate fans in the stands. We should be in for quite a show.”
Along with Tec’s renowned football team, this weekend will feature multiple performances from Grupo Raices, an award-winning ballet folklorico dance group from Tec. There’s also plenty of local and regional Mexican artists lined up to take the stage at the Fiesta in AT&T Stadium’s West Plaza.
While the Fiesta event is free, tickets to the football games can be purchased at the stadium. Prices are just $25 for adults and only $10 for students each day, making it one of the most affordable ways to get inside AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
