Union, NJ – After a slow offensive start for the fourth-ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders, Zach Anderson passed for 3 touchdowns and added a touchdown run for a 34-7 win over Kean University on Saturday.
Anderson, a sophomore from Odem, threw for 161 yards on 12 of 14 passing and added a 4-yard touchdown run, all in the second half, after the Cru offense could only put up 3 points in the first half of the game. Senior running back Elijah Hudson added 154 rushing yards on 23 carries for a Cru offense that racked up 445 yards offensively against the Cougars.
Junior linebacker Deshon Kinsey had 10 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks to lead the Cru defense. Kean’s only score of the game came on a 100 yard kick-off return by Damian Corredor in the third quarter.
UMHB improves to 2-0 on the season with the win while Kean drops to 0-2. The Cru will now have their highly anticipated home opener at the new Crusader Stadium against Wesley College on Sept 21st at 6:00 p.m.
