Belton, TX – Fresh off a dominating performance against the #5-ranked team in the country, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will kick off American Southwest Conference play with another home game this Saturday. The Cru will host Sul Ross State University for a 6:00 PM kickoff in the first conference game played in Crusader Stadium.

UMHB is 3-0 overall following last Saturday’s 35-7 victory over then 5th-ranked Wesley College. The Cru enters this weekend ranked #2 in the country by the American Football Coaches Association and #3 in the nation by The Lobos are 0-3 on the year following a 33-6 loss at Trinity University last Saturday in San Antonio. Sul Ross lost its first two games to NCAA Division II opponents and the Lobos will be playing their fourth straight road game to open the year. After the excitement of opening its new on-campus stadium with such a big victory last weekend, the Cru is looking to avoid a letdown this Saturday.

“It was such an incredible evening and I feel like it couldn’t have gone much better last weekend,” Cru Head Coach Pete Fredenburg said. “Now we need to keep that going throughout the season. We preach to our guys that no matter who you play, you’ve got to be ready. We need to get better every week if we are going to reach the goals we have set for this program.”

UMHB leads the all-time series with the Lobos 15-0 and only two of the meetings have been decided by less than 21 points. The Cru is in the midst of a four-game home stand at Crusader Stadium. For more information on parking, traffic flow and game day events, please visit the following link:
