
Waco, TX – The Tarleton State football team moved up to No. 22 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association Poll that was released Monday afternoon.
The Texans (3-0, 2-0 LSC) are coming off a 41-34 double overtime win over NCAA Division I FCS Member Abilene Christian this past Saturday. The Texan football team, which debuted in the AFCA Poll at No. 25 last week, is 3-0 to start the season for the first time since 2009.
Valdosta State (3-0) opened the season ranked No. 1 and managed to keep that same ranking for a fourth consecutive week after defeating Angelo State, 37-3, this past Saturday. Minnesota State-Mankato (4-0) and Northwest Missouri (4-0) round out the top three, respectively.
Lone Star Conference foe West Texas A&M (4-0) came in at No. 4 again this week, while Midwestern State (2-1) dropped out of the poll.
The Texans will travel to Blackwater Draw, N.M., this Saturday to face Eastern New Mexico. Kickoff between the Texans and Greyhounds is set for 3 p.m. (CST).
