UMHB Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth At Al Jones Memorial Tournament in Tyler

Tyler, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s golf team posted its fourth straight sub-300 round but the Cru men could not move up in the team standings in the final round of the Al Jones Memorial Tournament Tuesday in Tyler. UMHB posted a 293-299=592 team total and the Cru finished in fourth place overall. Trinity University won the team title after posting 292-294=586. Tournament host U.T.-Tyler shot 298-289=587 for second place and the U.T.-Tyler B team took third place after posting 292-296=588. Hardin-Simmons University was fifth with a 300-302=602, Concordia Texas carded a 309-297=606 for sixth place, Louisiana College claimed seventh place with a 301-307=608, U.T.-Dallas finished eighth at 301-311=612, Centenary College recorded a 313-307=620 for ninth place, Mississippi College fired a 315-316=631 for tenth place and LeTourneau University rounded out the field with a 317-326=643 total. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-71, 6,944-yard layout at The Cascades Golf Course in Tyler.

Jarrod Brown finished second individually for the UMHB men, firing a 73-68=141. His 68 was the low individual round of the final day. U.T.-Tyler’s Charley Graves won the individual title after posting 70-70=140 to edge Brown by one stroke. Robby Schimmels shot 71-75=146 for the Cru to tie for ninth place, Scottie Brown tied for 26th after shooting 73-80=153, Justin Judkins carded a 76-79=155 to tie for 31st and Pablo Mena Medrano tied for 38th place with a 79-77=156 total.

The Cru men will return to action with the Golfweek Fall Invitational. That tournament will be played October13-15 at Raven Golf Course in Sandestin, Florida and will close out the fall schedule for the UMHB men.
