DALLAS, TX – The No. 7 Tarleton State women’s golf team moved up two spots to finish in second place at the Dallas Baptist Women’s Classic at The Golf Club of Dallas on Tuesday.
The TexAnns rallied from Monday’s score of 311 to card a final round 297 and finish 32-over par (608) over two days at the par-72, 5,879-yard course. Tarleton entered the final round in fourth place, but all five TexAnn players scored even or better on Tuesday to earn the second place finish behind tournament champion St. Edward’s, who finished with a score of 24-over par (297-303=600).
Isabel Jimenez-Perea carded a two-under par 70 on Tuesday and finished in third place overall with a two-day score of 1-over 145.
Tarleton’s Jessica Pickwick tallied a top 10 finish, tying for 10th place at 9-over 153 after carding a closing round 74. She bettered Monday’s score of 79 by five strokes on Tuesday. Sharon Lau bettered her first round score by four strokes and finished in a tie for 12th place with a two-day score of 10-over 154.
Beatriz Prados fired a 6-over 78 for a second straight day and finished with a 12-over 156 and in a tie for 16th place. Marea Durie shot three stokes better on Tuesday as she carded a final round score of 11-over 83 to finish in a tie for 52nd place with a tournament total of 25-over 169.
The TexAnns have finished in the top three in its first two tournaments of the fall and will look to build on that next week as the team travels to Lawton, Okla., to compete in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate for Women. Tarleton will tee-off next Monday Oct. 21 at Fort Sill Golf Club.
