“We started slow and paid the price,” Baylor volleyball head coach Jim Barnes said, “and, so slow starts and not serving with confidence kept us from breaking the team down.”
Baylor’s 33 errors were the second most in a 3-set loss this season, just one less than the Bears’ 34 against Colorado, on Sept. 14.
“We had a few more errors than them,” Barnes added, “those errors came early, and that’s what put us in the hole.”
In the losing effort for the Bears (9-12, 1-4 ), Zoe Adom hit .294 with 15 kills with Laura Jones adding nine. Mackenzie Mayo recorded double-digit digs for the 15th time this season and for the ninth time in the last 10 matches, leading Baylor with 11.
TCU’s Natalie Gower had 10 kills while Ashley Smith added nine in the win for the Horned Frogs (13-7, 2-4). Gower hit .300 with just two errors on 20 attempts, and she added five total blocks to lead TCU.
The Lady Bears will play host to Oklahoma (15-4, 3-2) Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Ferrell Center in another Big 12 matchup.
