TROY – Several middle school football players and coaches were injured in an accident between a school bus and an 18-wheeler Thursday night in Troy.
A Troy ISD school bus and an 18-wheeler collided on the Interstate 35 access road in Troy between Waco and Temple around 9 p.m., according to preliminary information from the Texas Department of Public Safety. A DPS spokesman said four or five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash at the intersection of the I-35 frontage road and Main Street in Troy.
The injured victims were being taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Most of the injuries appeared to be minor, Troy police officer Arlie Bridges said.
The middle school football team was returning from an away game at Salado.
