WACO – Oklahoma dominated every facet of the match and swept Baylor 25-13, 25-13, 25-19, Saturday at the Ferrell Center. The Sooners hit .302 and limited the Bears to just a .010 hitting percentage to pick up the Big 12 victory.
Oklahoma (16-4, 4-2) set the tone in the first set with a 17-4 run to build a 21-8 lead after trailing 5-4, and the Sooners never looked back. The only hiccup for OU came in the third set when Baylor began by leading 4-0. However, the visitors countered with a 15-2 run and cruised to victory
OU’s Sallie McLaurin led the Sooners with 13 kills and a .600 hitting percentage while Kierra Holst had eight. Defensively, the visitors out-blocked Baylor, 7.0-3.0 and out-dug the Bears 45-36
In the losing effort, Baylor (9-13, 1-5) didn’t have a player over five kills while Mackenzie Mayo had 10 digs. The Bears, for the third-time this season, failed to reach 20 points in a set for the match, and Baylor’s 1-5 record to start conference play marks the second-straight year with only one win through six matches. The 2012 squad finished with a 7-9 Big 12 mark.
Baylor will wrap up its 3-match Big 12 homestand with Kansas State Wednesday on Fox Sports Southwest at 7 p.m.
