STEPHENVILLE – For the second time this season and third time in her career, Danielle Barker was named the Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week.
Barker played every point of Tarleton’s 14 sets last week, guiding the TexAnns to two wins in three games. The senior setter recorded three straight 40-assist performances, including back-to-back 50-assist efforts against Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-Commerce, and has now had at least 40 assists in seven of Tarleton’s last eight matches. For the week, she added 10 kills, one service ace and five assisted blocks.
The senior is currently second on Tarleton’s all-time assist list with 2,911 in her four-year TexAnn career. She is 89 assists shy of becoming the second TexAnn to amass 3,000 for her career.
She needs 355 more assists to tie her former teammate Jessie Hartman for the all-time lead in school history. Barker needs to average 39.4 assists per match over the remainder of the regular season to reach the all-time mark.
Barker and the TexAnns are headed to Austin Tuesday night to play St. Edward’s at 7 p.m.
