CONOVER, N.C. – Tarleton State’s Isabel Jimenez-Perea carded a final round 3-under-par 68 en route to her second straight individual championship, while leading the No. 7 TexAnn golf team to a second place finish at the Rock Barn Invitational at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C.
Jimenez-Perea won the individual championship by two strokes over Lynn’s Samantha Smolen (-4, 138), while teammate Jessica Pickwick followed in a tie for third place after carding a season-low 1-under 70 on Tuesday to finish the event at 1-under 141.
Beatriz Prados shot 3-over 74 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for ninth place overall with a total of 5-over-par 147. Sharon Lau carded a second round score of 8-over 79 to finish in a tie for 18th place at 10-over 152 and Maraea Durie rounded out Tarleton’s the team with a total score of 16-over 158 and finish in a tie for 32nd overall.
The TexAnns shot 4-over par 288 as a team on Tuesday and finished the tournament at 5-over 573, just eight strokes off the pace of No. 1 Lynn who won the event with a two-day score of 3-under-par 565.
Tarleton led the field in scoring on par-3 holes, averaging 3.10 stokes and shooting 5-over-par. The TexAnns led the field in par-5 scoring as well, shooting 6-under-par on the week and averaging 4.85 strokes per par-5 hole.
The TexAnns finish the fall season with four top-five finishes, which include a pair of second places, a third place finish and last week’s team title at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate for Women. Tarleton will now prepare for the upcoming spring schedule and its defense of the Lone Star Conference championship.
