PFLUGERVILLE – Foul calls kept Copperas Cove winless on the road as Pflugerville sank four free throws in the final seconds to seal a 64-60 win at Panther Gym on Tuesday night.

“It’s funny to say, but it’s the second game straight where we’re on the road and we get on the road calls late in the game,” said Bulldawgs head basketball coach Billy White, “I mean it’s just one of those deals where it’s frustrating.”

The Bulldawgs (1-2) tied the game at 60 with 46 seconds left to play in the game and the Panthers’ Abrian Edwards tried for the last shot of the game but was fouled with just 3.1 seconds left.  Edwards sank both free throws to push the Panthers (2-0) to a 62-60 lead.

The Dawgs then tried to inbound the ball but were denied by Pflugerville’s defense as the ball went out of bounds and went to the Panthers with 2.6 seconds left.  Cove then fouled Darren Henderson as he sank his free throws to give Pflugerville a 64-60 lead with o.4 seconds left.  The Bulldawgs could not get a shot off as time expired and gave them their second straight loss.

Junior Rashard Odomes led the Bulldawgs in scoring with 31 points, 13 of which came in the fourth quarter alone.

“Rashard played hard and was big in the paint for us,” coach White said, “He did some things well for us, but it was a collective effort from everybody and I was proud of everyone of them doing the things that they did.”

Senior John Brown added 11 points for the Bulldawgs and senior Montre Fennell-Williams had 7.

“I’m proud of the kids and the way they came out and performed,” White added,  “we just have to make sure we execute a lot better down the stretch.”

The Bulldawgs will try for their first road win this weekend as they travel to Houston to play in the McDonald’s Invitational.
