WACO – Twenty high school athletes from the Heart Of Texas area were honored at the Fourth Annual Academic All-Stars banquet on Wednesday at the Texas Sports Hall Of Fame.

The Academic All-Stars Team is the brainchild of ESPN Central Texas program director David Smoak.

The team was selected from well over 100 nominations with the final “All-Stars” succeeding in both the classroom and athletic competition. The “All-Stars” boasts 10 valedictorians and 3 salutatorians, an overall grade point average of 101.4 and overall class average of 2.4.

Former Baylor record-breaking running back and previous Academic All-Star Terrance Ganaway was the guest speaker for the event.
