The Heart of Texas area was a hotbed of talent for softball in 2014 and five area players were selected to the 2014 Texas Girls Coaches Association 1A-2A-3A All-Star Game in Arlington on July 11.

Class 2A state champions Crawford had two players selected to the 1A-2A-3A Red Team roster, catcher Sydney Christensen and outfielder Jessica Tomchesson, both Baylor signees.

Joining them on the team will be Hubbard third baseman Kate Saucke, who led her team to a Class 1A state tournament berth.

Salado’s Morgan Hill, a McLennan College signee and District 22-2A first team pitcher, will be on the roster after leading the Lady Eagles to the Class 2A regional finals before losing a three-game series to eventual state champion Crawford.

Bruceville-Eddy shortstop Shelby Friudenberg, another Baylor signee and 2014 District 21-2A MVP of the Year will round out the five players from the Heart of Texas area selected for the all-star game.

The 2014 TGCA 1A-2A-3A All-Star game will take place at the Workman Softball Complex in Arlington at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11.
