ROUND ROCK – The hopes of a state baseball championship for Troy faded away on Thursday afternoon as the Trojans lost 13-3 to Sunnyvale in the Class 2A state final at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
Sunnyvale pitcher Nathan Hawkins threw a complete-game, allowing only one earned run on eight hits while striking out 11 and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
The Trojans (30-10) were vying to become latest team from the Heart Of Texas area to win a state chamipionship since Jarrell in 2011.
