Tyrell Thompson commits to the University of Houston.

Copperas Cove defensive end Tyrell Thompson committed to the University of Houston on Monday night sharing the news via Twitter.

“I loved the campus when I went down there and the guys on the team made me feel at home,” Thompson said. “I connected well with defensive line coach Ricky Logo, who recruited me.”

Thompson, who has started at defensive end for Copperas Cove the past two seasons, had 50 tackles in 2013, with eight going for losses and two sacks.

“I feel like I can do really big things at U of H,” he added.

The Bulldawgs senior will become the third Distict 12-6A player to commit to the Cougars, joining the Midway duo of linebacker Lenoy Jones, Jr. and quarterback Ben Hicks.

Thompson had offers from Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas State, Texas-San Antonio and Tulsa.
