Baylor Equestrian Announces 2014-15 Schedule

baylorequestrianWACO, Texas – Baylor equestrian head coach Ellen White announced the Bears’ 2014-15 schedule Wednesday, which includes seven regular season home meets and six on the road.

The Bears finished the 2013-14 season with an 8-7 overall record, a 4-4 mark in the Big 12, and BU went 1-1 in the NCEA National Championships in Waco, losing to the eventual national champion, Georgia, in the second round.

The 2014-15 schedule opens with seven of the first eight meets at Baylor’s Willis Equestrian Center highlighted by a rematch with UGA Oct. 25, before the Bears close the regular season with five straight on the road.

The Big 12 Championships are hosted by TCU in Forth Worth, Texas March 26-28, but Baylor and the City of Waco will play host to the NCEA National Championships once again April 15-19.

Baylor opens the season with the Willis Family Invitational Sept. 26-27 with Fresno State, TCU and UT Martin coming to town for the round-robin event. The invitational counts only as one competition with the round-robin winner the only team to take home a victory.

The Bears open Big 12 play Oct. 18 vs. Oklahoma State and concludes the fall semester schedule Nov. 21 in Dover, Delaware at DSU. Baylor resumes action at home Jan. 29 vs. New Mexico State, and then will play host to Texas A&M Feb. 7.

The tough road stretch for Baylor begins Feb. 14 as the Bears take on TCU (Feb. 14), OSU (Feb. 27), and KSU (Feb. 28) in Big 12 meetings before closing the regular season March 6 at South Carolina and March 8 at Auburn.

All in all, Baylor’s 2014-15 schedule includes just one opponent, Delaware State, that did not make the 12-team field at last year’s NCEA Championships.
