STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Volleyball has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2014 campaign, with the home opener slated for September 9 against Texas A&M-Commerce at 7 p.m.
“It’s getting close to the start of a new season and we’re excited,” said Tarleton head coach Mary Schindler, who enters her 10th season at the helm of the TexAnns. “Our conference is one of the best in the country and we’re excited about the opportunity to compete and continue to build this program into a national contender.”
Tarleton State will begin its 34th season of volleyball with a trip to San Angelo to compete in the Angelo State Invitational on September 5-6. The final tournament bracket has not been finalized yet, but the TexAnns are expected to play four games that weekend.
After the only tournament weekend of the season, Tarleton will head to Fort Worth for a pre-conference tune-up against Texas Wesleyan before making their home debut to begin league action against Commerce.
The TexAnns have 16 conference matches, one home and one away, against each of their conference foes and will also play seven non-conference games following the season-opening tournament.
Tarleton will play 13 home matches this season, including a senior day match against LSC rival West Texas A&M on November 1 at 2 p.m. The TexAnns will conclude the regular season at Angelo State on Nov. 7.
The Lone Star Conference Tournament is scheduled to take place on Nov. 13-15 at the No. 1 seed institution. Tarleton has advanced to four straight LSC Championship Tournaments and seven in the nine years under Schindler.
