la_vega_piratesFormer La Vega running back Chris Parr has been accepted and will play football this fall at Midwestern State University, ESPN Central Texas program director David Smoak reports.

“La Vega HC Willie Williams confirmed former Pirate RB Chris Parr has been accepted and will play FB this fall at Midwestern State University,” Smoak tweeted. “Williams also told me Parr has been on the Midwestern State campus throughout the summer and would have four years of eligibility remaining.”

Parr was sentenced to a five year prison sentence in May 2013 after his deferred felony probation was adjudicated. Judge Ralph Strother of Waco’s 19th State District Court sentenced the then 22-year-old after he pleaded “true” to four violations of his probation for burglary of a habitation.

Parr, who faced up to 20 years in prison, was given credit for the 17 months he spent in the McLennan County Jail for his arrest on a robbery charge and was eligible for early parole, given the time he already had accrued.

The running back was playing football at Texas A&M University-Kingsville when he was arrested on the robbery charge.
