Stephenville gets top spot in AP Class 4A state football poll

Stephenville is No. 1 in Class 4A  in the first high school football top 10 poll, released by the Associated Press on Wednesday.

The Yellow Jackets received 14 of the panel’s 25 first-place votes to finish with 226 points, beating Navasota, which had 208.

Another Heart of Texas area team that received points but did not make the Top 10 poll included Liberty Hill with 17.

Here is the AP Class 4A preseason high school poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, records, points based on 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, and the team’s ranking in last week’s poll:
