GATESVILLE – The Temple and Belton volleyball teams met for the second time this season. This time it was for third place in the Gatesville Varsity Tournament. Unfortunately, for the Tem-Cats, the result was the same as the Lady Tigers defeated Temple 25-11, 25-14.
Temple (3-9) on the season reached the 3rd place game by falling to host Gatesville in the tournament semi-finals earlier in the afternoon, 25-11, 25-11.
Against Belton, Tiffani Mays led the Tem-Cats with 4 kills including one that gave Temple an early 3-0 lead for the Tem-Cats in Game 2. Temple kept it close at 14-13 until the lady Tigers ran off the last 11 points to end the contest. Jule Hendy added 4 assist and 2 digs while Angel Rivera picked up 3 digs.
In the opening match of the day, Temple failed to get into a rhythm as they struggled against Gatesville. Abby Petter picked up 6 digs and had two serving aces.
Temple travels to Thrall on Tuesday to face the Lady Tigers at 6:30 pm.
