BELTON – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s soccer team opened the 2014 season with a 1-0 win over Texas Lutheran University.
The game remained scoreless until the 72nd minute when Briana Hester headed in a goal off a corner kick from Sarah Kopp and gave the Cru a 1-0 advantage. Kathryn Parker led the Cru with five shots en route to a team-total 22 shots. Courtney Craig earned the win in the contest with one save. UMHB took nine corner kicks in the game to the Bulldogs’ one, giving up just one shot in the contest.
UMHB returns to action next weekend in a pair of matches in Georgetown. UMHB will face Hendrix on Friday, September 5th at 1 p.m. and Whitworth on Saturday, September 6th at 11 a.m. The Cru returns home on Saturday, September 13th against Austin College at 2 p.m. at the Cru Sports Plex.
