Temple jumps to No. 3 in latest 5A football poll

The Temple Wildcats jumped four spots to No. 3 in the latest Class 5A football poll released by the Associated Press. Temple opened the season on Friday night with a come from behind 35-28 victory over the visiting Round Rock Dragons.

Other Heart of Texas area football teams in this week’s poll included Cedar Park, who fell two spots to No. 7 after losing to No. 1 Aledo 21-7 at McLane Stadium in Waco on Friday night.

Georgetown received 16 points, but failed to reach the Top 10.

Here is the full Associated Press Class 5A high school poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, records, points based on 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, and the team’s ranking in last week’s poll:
