ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Southwestern University volleyball team’s offensive struggles continued in their first match of the day as they dropped three straight, but rebounded with a 3-0 win of their own in game two over Wheaton.
Both teams’ offenses were slow to start as Wittenberg hit .070 in set one, but SU posted a -.053 attack percentage and fell 25-17. WU got stronger in the final two sets and were just too powerful for SU as they fell 29-27 and 25-19.
It was all Southwestern in match two as the Pirates charged out of the gate with a .218 attack percentage while holding Wheaton to .000, winning the first set 25-18.
With momentum in hand, the Pirates cruised to the match win with 25-19 and 25-23 set two and three wins.
For their outstanding play over the weekend, Foster and Lentz earned All-Tournament team picks.
Now 4-4 on the year, Southwestern heads to San Antonio to take on Puget Sound and George Fox on Friday beginning at 5 p.m.
