BELTON – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept Hardin-Simmons for the first time since 2003 Tuesday evening in Belton, taking the 3-0 match 25-14, 25-20, 25-19. The Cru improved to 10-3 on the season and 2-0 in conference play, clinching the program’s 200th win as a Division III member. Hardin-Simmons dropped to 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in ASC action.
UMHB took early command of the match and did not let up. Abby Voskuil led the Cru with 10 kills while Bianca Patterson added nine. Shelby Prather recorded 17 assists with Kendall Pye adding 14. On the defensive end, Kendra Feldmann led all athletes with 18 digs with Pye and Prather each bringing up ten. UMHB totaled six team blocks led by Cheyenne Dowdey‘s one solo block and three block assists. The Cru totaled 37 kills for a .224 hitting percentage while the Cowgirls had 28 kills for a .098 hitting percentage.
UMHB returns to action Friday in a 7 p.m. match at Concordia Texas in Austin. The Cru returns home Friday, September 26th for a match against the University of Texas at Tyler at 7 p.m.
