STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton offense was in full swing Tuesday night with a team hitting percentage of .407 en route to sweeping Southeastern Oklahoma for the TexAnns’ 10th win of the season.

This ties the best start to a season through the first 12 games – matching the 10-2 start to the 2010 campaign.

Tarleton State wasted no time in disposing of the Savage Storm, beginning with a block from Jasmyne Brown and Kaitlyn White to start the game. The first set would actually stay tight through the first 18 points, until Ashley Rine landed a kill shot to break the game open.

After the Rine kill made it 10-9 Tarleton, Emily Medlin served up back-to-back service aces – which would be two of her career-high four aces on the night – to start a 9-4 TexAnn run to take a 20-13 lead.

After the Storm scored to make it 20-14, Rine landed another run-starting kill shot to give the serve to Hailey Roberts, who served up four straight points on a Storm error and three points from Kenya Alexander – two kills and a block – to seal the game 25-14.

Tarleton was in complete control of the second game, building a lead as high as 13 and never tying with the Storm beyond 1-1. Southeastern Oklahoma only managed to score consecutive points on two occasions in the set as Tarleton won 25-12.

After the TexAnns opened the third set on a 5-1 run, the Storm put together their biggest run of the night – a 6-0 push – to take a slim 7-6 lead. However, Roberts abruptly ended the run with a booming kill shot to even the score at 7-7.

The teams would tie the game at 8-8 and 9-9, but a Southeastern service error gave the TexAnns a 10-9 lead, which would be the last lead change of the night. The Storm would score back-to-back points only once more in the set as Tarleton finished off Southeastern 25-18.

As a team, Tarleton hit a season-high percentage of .407 with 42 kills and just nine errors on 81 attacks.

Alexander led the charge with a season-high hitting percentage of .629 with a team-high 10 kills and one error on 13 chances. White, meanwhile, landed eight kill shots on 15 attempts with no errors on the night for a hitting percentage of .533.

Roberts tied Alexander for the team-high with 10 kills while the freshman tandem of Medlin (17) and Chandler Gow (18) combined for 35 total assists. White was the team leader in digs with nine.

The TexAnns will hit the road this weekend as they return to Lone Star Conference action, beginning in Canyon Friday against West Texas A&M and ending with a Saturday night affair in Portales, New Mexico against the Zias. Both matches are set to begin at 7 p.m.
