BROWNWOOD – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team grabbed its third consecutive sweep with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-21 win over Howard Payne Tuesday night in Brownwood. The win improved the Cru to 12-3 on the season and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference play, while the Yellow Jackets moved to 0-12 on the season and 0-6 in conference action.
Natasha Evans, the Schlotzsky’s Lotz Better Player of the Game led the Cru with 12 kills and no errors for a .857 hitting percentage. Loren Poss added six kills while Abby Voskuil drove down five. Evans, Shelby Prather and Kendall Pye all split time in the setter position, each recording 11 assists. UMHB had a strong team effort defensively, recording 42 digs led by Kendra Feldmann‘s seven and seven team blocks, led by Cheyenne Dowdey‘s four. UMHB totaled 36 kills in 85 attempts for a .294 hitting percentage, adding ten services aces. The Yellow Jackets hit 27 kills in 90 attempts for a .167 hitting percentage.
UMHB returns to action in a home match on Friday, September 26th in a 7 p.m. match against the University of Texas at Tyler. The Cru will then host the University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday, September 27th at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
