TEMPLE – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s golf team improved by 14 strokes on the final day to stretch its lead as the Cru women won the UMHB Lady Cru Fall Invitational Tuesday in Temple.
The Cru women posted a 329-315=644 team total and topped Tyler Junior College’s second-place score of 334-317=651 by seven strokes. U.C.-Santa Cruz carded a 370-360=730 for third place, LeTourneau University fired a 365-372=737 for fourth place, U.T.-Dallas finished in fifth place with a 372-366=738 and Jacksonville Community College finished in sixth place with a 409-384=793 total.
UMHB’s McKenzie Ralston won the individual title after firing an even-par final round of 72 to finish with a 79-72=151. Kaley Jackson finished third individually for the Cru with an 85-73=158, Emily Ming claimed fifth place with an 82-82=164 and Ashley Garbade (85-88) and Deana Gonyea (83-90) tied for 12th place with 173’s. Ralston, Jackson and Ming were joined on the all-tournament team by Tyler Junior College’s Kerbey Kipp and Sara Ruiz.
The tournament was played on a par-72, 5,816-yard layout at Wildflower Country Club in Temple.
The Cru women will return to action with the University of Houston-Victoria Classic on October 6th and 7th. That tournament will be played at The Club at Colony Creek in Victoria.
