BELTON – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team battled through the first two sets and then cruised in the third on the way to a 25-20, 25-22, 25-16 victory over U.T.-Tyler Friday evening in Belton. The Cru improves to 13-3 overall and 5-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Patriots to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in the ASC on the season.

The first set was a see-saw affair before UMHB was able to pull away late. Three Cru players had three kills apiece to key the effort. UMHB won the final two points after UT-Tyler had closed to within 23-22 in the second set. The Cru then hit .333 as a team in the third set to put the match away.

Bianca Patterson led UMHB with 11 kills on the night and Kendall Pye added eight kills, 12 assists and 10 digs. Shelby Prather led the team with 21 assists and Kendra Feldmann had a team-best 15 digs.

Brieanne Brown topped U.T.-Tyler with nine kills. Rebecca Floyd had 23 assists and Shabronda Prox led the Patriots with 16 kills. UMHB hit .210 as a team, compared to U.T.-Tyler’s .165 hitting percentage.

The Cru will return to action with a home game against another undefeated conference opponent on Saturday. UMHB will host U.T.-Dallas for a 2:00 PM start at the Mayborn Campus Center.
