GLEN ROSE – Hayden Holder scored two touchdowns to lift Glen Rose over previously unbeaten West 31-22 at Tiger Stadium in Glen Rose on Friday night.

Holder rushed for 129 yards on 17 carries for the Tigers (5-1, 2-0 District 9-3A).  Preston Shuffield added a 13-yard touchdown reception and Jayton Dillard raced to the end zone for a 70 yard touchdown reception as well for Glen Rose.

Tigers quarterback Colten Lane completed six of 14 passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns to go with 13 carries for 49 yards. Shuffield added 59 yards on four carries for the offense.

West entered Friday night averaging 41 points per game, but the Trojans (5-1, 1-1) nearly went three-full quarters without scoring.

“I thought our defense played really well for most of the night,” Glen Rose head coach Tommy Dunn said. “The only really big play they had was on special teams. I think our depth paid off over the course of the game, plus we’re in really good shape.”

Glen Rose will now travel to Hillsboro Oct. 10 for a 7:30 p.m. contest. Hillsboro most recently lost to West 55-7 on Sept. 26.
