Temple, Georgetown hold steady in AP 5A football poll

Temple stays at No. 3 and Georgetown holds at No. 8 in the Associated Press Class 5A football poll released on Monday.

The Wildcats (4-1) held off District 16-5A foe Manor, 28-14, at home on Friday night and received 165 points to remain at No. 3 this week.  The Eagles (4-1) were in their bye week and received 59 points to hold at No. 8 in the poll.

Aledo and Fort Bend Elkins remained at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively in the poll.  Aledo received 228 points and 15 first place votes, while Elkins received 200 points and 8 first place votes.  Mansfield Timberview received 155 points and one first place to round out the top five.

Here is The Associated Press 5A high school poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, records, points based on 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, and the team’s ranking in last week’s poll:
