“I played better in this match. I’m finding a good rhythm with my game. Now I am just moving on to what’s up next.” Burgic said.
The victory was Burgic’s second-straight at the event, an ITF $25,000 Pro Circuit tournament. Those two victories plus Burgic’s bye in the first round of the qualifying draw allowed the BU senior to be one of eight qualifiers for the 32-person main draw.
“Ema played with good discipline and served well today. I know she is excited to advance to play a quality opponent like (Sharon) Fichman in the next round.” Baylor women’s tennis head coach Joey Scrivano said.
Burgic plays in the first round of the event’s main draw on Wednesday. She will face the event’s No. 1 overall seed in Canada’s Sharon Finchman, who is ranked No. 135 in the world.
