STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State’s Hailey Roberts and Kenya Alexander were named the Lone Star Conference Offensive and Defensive players of the week, respectively, Tuesday afternoon.
Roberts was a force for the TexAnns. She blasted 36 kills (4.5/set) with 13 versus ASU and 23 against Newman to lead the team in addition to hitting .244 and serving up five aces. The freshman also had 25 total digs for her, team-best, eighth and ninth double-doubles of the season. Roberts led the TexAnns with 42.5 total points scored in two games.
Meanwhile, Alexander was a dominant defender for Tarleton State. In addition to her 23 kills and .259 hitting percentage on offense, Alexander also recorded a team-best 15 blocks in two games. She racked up 33 points for the TexAnns, three of which were the final three points of the second set as Alexander secured the second-set win en route to the sweep of the Rambelles.
Roberts and Alexander led Tarleton to back-to-back wins Friday and Saturday, including the first sweep of Angelo State since 2006.
This is the second weekly award for both TexAnns this season and they will be in action tonight as Tarleton hosts Dallas Baptist at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
