LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern University men’s golfer Tyler Gammill was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for tournaments played through Tuesday, October 7, the league announced on Wednesday.
The freshman from Austin, Texas, defeated a field of 94 at the Royal Lake/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational in Flowery Branch, Ga. this week. After finishing the first day in sixth place, Gammill shot a tournament-low round score of 68 Tuesday to take sole possession of the top spot.
Gammill led the Pirates to a second place finish overall in just his fourth tournament of his college career. This is his second top 10 finish of the season, as he took fifth place at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational where he shot a career-low round of 65.
The Pirates will compete in their final fall tournament October 27-28 at the Abilene Intercollegiate hosted by Hardin-Simmons University.
