PFLUGERVILLE – The Temple Tem-Cat Cross Country team claimed the District 17-5A team title on Thursday in dominating fashion by placing four runners in the Top 10 spots to out distance second place University.

Temple senior Samantha Brewer took 2nd place overall in a time of 20:06 only finishing four seconds behind Waco’s Melissa Gonzales. Brewer, who has been consistently one of the top runners for the Tem-Cats led a groups of Temple that placed 6 runners in the top 15 spots.

Finishing in the Top 10 included a pair of freshman who finished 5th and 6th respectively, Arleth Subiria (20:34) and Ajah McNeil (20:38). Senior Ashley Rynard took the 10th spot with a time of 21:22.

Junior Anna Vivatson (21:29) placed 13th while a third freshman Chloe Durbin took 15th place in 21:36. Rounding out the varsity runners was Analaura Carillo 29th in 22:23.

Temple won the meet with a team best 36 points while the runner-up University finished with 51. Hutto was a distant 3rd with 67 points.

With the victory, Temple will now advance to the regional meet on November 1st at Atascocita High School.

Not to be out done; Temple’s junior varsity team also claimed the JV division championship and placed five runners in the Top 10. Temple (24 points) ran away from 2nd place Waco with 67 points.

Alexius Haskins paced the cats finishing in third place overall with a time of 14:04. Right on her heels were Sophia Weedman in 5th place (14:34); Alexis Garcia 7th (14:39); Ciena Womack 9th (14:47) and Janet Sisneros 10th (14:50).

Finishing in the Top 20 was Mary Perez in 14th (15:01) followed by Marissa Perez 19th (15:26).
