LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga – Southwestern volleyball player Macey Pool has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, October 20th through Sunday, October 26th.

The junior outside hitter from Spring, Texas led the Pirates to a huge 4-0 weekend to lock of the No. 2 seed in the upcoming SCAC Volleyball Tournament and give a big boost to Southwestern’s national postseason hopes.

Pool led Southwestern with 106 digs in the span of six games (5.05/set) including 68 over the conference weekend (4.86/set). Pool opened the weekend with 22 digs in a 3-0 win over St. Thomas. She followed that up with 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Our Lady of the Lake.

During the Cross-Divisional play, Pool’s biggest day game came against eighth-ranked Colorado College, where the junior had 25 digs in the five set victory to go with 15 kills. She also had an impressive 19 and 17 dig performance against Dallas and Austin College.

For the season, Pool is fourth in conference play with 133 kills and fifth in digs with 216. She is eighth in the SCAC with 3.93 digs per set.
