WAXAHACHIE – Former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna has been hired as the new head football coach at Waxahachie High School, according to reports.

The Waxahachie ISD school board hired the 16-year NFL veteran as coach at Thursday night’s called meeting.

Tacoma Public Schools administrators confirmed he resigned from his position with his alma mater, Lincoln High School, Wednesday morning after serving three years with the school.

Kitna became the head football coach of Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington in 2012 and led the team to back-to-back 3A Narrows championships in 2013 and 2014, compiling a 24-8 record during his three years with the Abes, reaching the postseason in all three years, including a run to the Class 3A state quarterfinals in 2014.
