Anderson, Austin Spurs beaten by Oklahoma City Blue

austin__spurs-logoprimary-2015OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Blue earned its eighth straight win by defeating the Austin Spurs, 130-117, on Saturday behind four players scoring over 20 points.Oklahoma City Thunder forward Grant Jerrett shot 8-of-12 to score 19 points with seven rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes.

Six players scored over 15 points, including a 21-point performance from Josh Huestis on 7-of-10 shooting, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. Fellow Thunder draft pick Semaj Christon tallied 20 points, 10 assists and four rebounds. Reggie Williams led all scorers with 22 points on a perfect 4-of-4 from behind the arc. Williams added six assists, five boards and a pair of steals.

Talib Zanna achieved a double-double by halftime and finished the night with 15 points and 15 boards. Marquis Teague paced the bench with 20 points and six assists while going 10-for-10 from the free throw line.

“I’m really proud of how we played on the second night of a back-to-back,” said Blue Head Coach Mark Daigneault. “I thought we played our style of basketball and sustained it for a much longer period of time, which shows continuous improvement. It was a really good team win.”

Oklahoma City held Austin to 7-of-25 shooting (28.0 percent) in the first quarter to jump out to a 28-19 lead. The Blue went on a 22-4 run over a four minute stretch of the second quarter to lead 58-35 midway through the period. Oklahoma City outscored Austin 42-26 in the second behind 15-of-23 shooting (65.2 percent) and going 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) from three-point range.

Despite Austin outscoring Oklahoma City 38-32 in the third quarter and 34-28 in the fourth, the Blue led by double digits for the entirety of the second half to claim its 12th win in the last 14 games.

Oklahoma City (16-10) shot 56.0 percent from the field and 11-of-20 (55.0 percent) from three. The Blue has shot over 48 percent in seven consecutive games and is 9-0 on the season when shooting above 50 percent. Oklahoma City outrebounded Austin 44-36 and distributed 29 assists.

Austin (16-9) was led by 22 points and 13 assists from San Antonio Spurs assignment Kyle Anderson.
