McLennan softball splits to open season in Galveston

GALVESTON – The McLennan Highlassies softball team opened the 2015 season with a 16-4 run-rule win over the University of Houston-Victoria Friday morning at the Galveston College Invitational.

Morgan Hill got the win in the circle for the Highlassies. Aubri Hockenbury led the McLennan at the plate, going 3-4 with a home run and seven RBIs. Andrea Gonzales and Danielle Gregory both recorded a double. Amber Mills picked up four RBIs and Gregory had two RBIs.

In the afternoon game, the Highlassies fell to Louisiana State University-Eunice 3-0 with Ashley Mills taking the loss. Hill, Amber Mills and Marisa Flores all singled.

The Highlassies will continue tournament play Saturday with games against Kilgore, Ranger and Navarro.
