HOUSTON – The McLennan Highlassies and San Jacinto split Wednesday’s softball doubleheader in Houston.

San Jacinto took game one 5-4 with Ashley Mills taking the loss in the circle. Kaymee Gooden led McLennan at the plate, going 2-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Aubri Hockenbury also hit a home run. Danielle Gregory was 2-3 with an RBI and Morgan Hill recorded an RBI.

The Highlassies bounced back to defeat San Jacinto 6-3 in the nightcap with Kati Turner getting the win. Gooden and Hill led at the plate, both going 3-4. Gooden recorded a home run and three RBIs while Hill had a triple and an RBI. Marisa Flores hit two doubles and picked up an RBI. Gregory was 2-4 with an RBI and Makayla Hernandez doubled.

McLennan will compete in the Temple Tournament this weekend. The Highlassies will face Indian Hills at 11:30 a.m.  and Angelina at 2 p.m. on Friday.
