Highlanders in third at national golf tournament

NEWTON, Kansas – The McLennan Highlanders sit in third place with 293-297-280 –  870 after three rounds of the NJCAA Men’s Golf Division I National Championships at the par-72, 7,359-yard Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas.

Indian Hills is in first place with 289-292-280 – 861, followed by Eastern Florida in second with 290-294-279 – 863.

Cory Donnell leads the Highlanders and is in third place with 71-70-70 – 211.

Other McLennan scores: Ryan Johnson, tied for 13th, 74-78-67 – 219; Hunter Shattuck, tied for 20th, 74-73-74 – 221; Blake Stock, tied for 27th, 75-77-70 – 222; and Bruce Popp, tied for 34th, 74-77-73 – 224.

Other team scores: Odessa, fourth, 296-291-290 – 877; Wallace State, fifth, 289-308-285 – 882; Dodge City, sixth, 296-298-293 – 887; Western Texas, seventh, 295-295-302 – 892; Hutchinson, eighth, 292-310-296 –  898; New Mexico, tied for ninth, 298-305-298 –  901; Faulkner State, tied for ninth, 300-312-289 – 901; Eastern Arizona, 11th, 298-311-297 – 906; Central Alabama, 12th, 306-305-296 – 907; Trinidad State, 13th, 297-311-302 – 910; Iowa Western, 14th, 305-317-301 – 923; Midland, 15th, 318-312-295 – 925; Pima, 16th, 296-329-303 – 928; Cape Fear, 17th, 311-320-302 – 933; Scottsdale, 18th, 315-318-308 – 941; and Eastern Wyoming, 19th, 321-322-318 – 961.

The tournament will conclude with the final round tomorrow.
