Austin Spurs force game three with 91-83 win over D-Fenders

austin__spurs-logoprimary-2015CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Austin Spurs kept their playoff run alive with a 91-83 victory over the the Los Angeles D-Fenders in Game 2 of the NBADL’s Western Conference Finals Monday night at Cedar Park Center.

The Spurs evened the three-game series at a game apiece and will host a rubber match on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

The winner will play the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBADL Finals. Sioux Falls defeated Canton 117-85 on Sunday to advance.

Monday’s contest was a continuation of Sunday’s game that was postponed due to condensation on the court. Austin held a 58-53 lead with six minutes 15 seconds left in the third quarter when play was stopped.

The Spurs opened play Monday night with a 14-2 run and pushed the lead to 17 with less than a minute left in the third. Austin held off a rally by the D-Fenders early in the fourth and built a double digit with five minutes remaining.

Austin’s Deshaun Thomas and Brandon Fields scored 20 points apiece and Youssou Ndoye chipped in 14 points with 12 rebounds.

Los Angeles’ Vander Blue, who led the NBADL in scoring this season and had 33 points in Game 1, shrugged off a slow start on Sunday and finished with 24 points. The D-Fenders scored a season-low point total and shot 37 percent from the field, including 26 percent from beyond the three-point line.
